about

After delivering his latest studio album ‘Your Psyche’s Rainbow Panorama’ near the end of last year, which went on to receive praise from the likes of Giles Peterson, Tom Ravenscroft, and Huw Stephens, London-based producer and vocalist Tony Njoku looks to keep his dynamic and forward-thinking approach to new music reaching ever higher heights as he announces the details behind his new EP ‘JUSTINE’.

Over the last few years, Tony has never looked to pigeonhole his sound in any way, which has largely led him down dark and haunting tunnels of self-discovery, emerging as one of the most unique and captivating artists working today. His abstract approach to production, coupled with his sweet yet soaring voice, gives him an edge that few can replicate and treating his work as an extensive of his own raw and diverse emotions.

This new release ‘JUSTINE’ features four yet-to-be-released offerings, all of which continue this bold and dynamic direction. Fitting somewhere between the worlds of neo-soul and experimental trip-hop, this new collection has an eclectic and diverse feel threaded throughout. Whether it is the warm and textured atmosphere of the opening track ‘JUSTINE’ or the scattering beats of the EP’s closer ‘</3’, Tony Njoku looks to pack as many elements of his form into each of these new cuts.

Also including the sweeping yet warped track ‘BSD YRSLF’ and wistfully bouncing offering ‘100% 4 BEAUTY’, ‘JUSTINE’ is set to see the artist return in superbly stellar form, delivering yet more of that ever-evolving sound that his fans love and admire him for.

Speaking on the new EP, Tony stated:
“This EP really is just me focusing on writing love songs more than anything. Playing with themes of romance, heart break, self motivation, self introspection etc. I’d say these songs are subtle odes to my constant drive towards self-exploration.
But instead of focusing on the abstract i’ve brought more direct and hopefully relatable themes and musicality.
I feel they’re more straight to the point in intention than previous records. Not watered down but certainly concise.”

‘JUSTINE’ is set to be released on the 19th June 2020 through Silent Kid Records.

lyrics

Justine you were never wrong
Looking more alive than you’ve ever done
Trust me you were meant for this
Focus on the prize, not the enemies
Not your enemies, but your angels
Better be prepared when the time comes
Justine you were never wrong
Looking more alert than you’ve ever done
Than you’ve ever done

Pessimists messing up her energy
Her stressed head’s hanging on the precipice
The time is now or never
Don’t crumble under pressure

your past’s like a double edge sword
It could fuel you or could burn you to the floor
Rose quartz won’t recover lost love
Move forward with a poise take charge

Esteem, gotta stay calm in the whirlwind
Trust me it’ll come around
Better understand you were never wrong

You were never wrong

Justine

Justine where’d your luck go
On the other side of the rainbow 🌈
Ease up, there’s a pot of gold
Focus on the prize not your downfalls
Not your downfalls but your kinfolk
Better look alive when the time comes
Justine you were never wrong
Open up your mind to a another noise
To a better noise.
